Guide 02
How To Measure Trunk Space
Better measurements mean fewer surprises when the box meets the real vehicle.
Measure the real limiting points
Do not just measure the widest open area. Measure the tightest usable path the enclosure has to fit through and the final spot where it will sit.
Get these three numbers carefully
- Maximum width at the final box position.
- Maximum height under shelves, trim, or hatch structure.
- Maximum depth that still allows the trunk or hatch to close normally.
Leave yourself margin
If your vehicle space is irregular or carpeted, leave some margin instead of designing right to the absolute maximum. That small cushion can save you from a very frustrating build day.
